Avery’s Birthday Photo Shoot

by on Apr.20, 2011

My sweet little Avery is almost 4. Skyler and I took her out last night to take pictures for her upcoming birthday. I decided I would let her wear her Easter dress for the pictures and she was thrilled! We took her to the Mount Timpanogos Temple grounds to take her pictures. Here are a few for your enjoyment. She is such a beautiful girl.

We had a great time. We love you Avery!

Avery’s Chores

by on Apr.19, 2011

Skyler came up with this amazing idea for Avery when she does her chores. As many of you know Avery loves hair! Whenever she describes someone she will always describe them according to what their hair looks like. Skyler suggested that I make her a doll head and put Velcro strips on it and for every chore Avery does she earns a strand of hair on the head. When the head is full of hair she earns something of her choosing. Well, I finally got it all done, it was a big project. Here is what the doll looks like from the front with no hair.

I had to number the Velcro strips because each strand of hair is a different length and goes in a specific spot on the head.

This is what one strand of hair looks like.

This is what the doll will look like when Avery earns all of the strands of hair.

Avery is so excited about it. She loves earning the hair for her doll!

Kaden’s 1st Birthday

by on Apr.12, 2011

Kaden turned one on April 2nd. His birthday happened to fall on the Saturday of General Conference, and me being the way I am insisted on celebrating ON his birthday, so we invited all of our family over for a light lunch and cake in between sessions of conference. We spent the morning watching conference and preparing for everyone to come over. We blew up lots of balloons for Kaden to play with. Grandma Call brought a big blue balloon that looked like a spider. Kaden LOVES it!

We had lunch and then went into the family room for Kaden to open his presents. He got lots of clothes, motorcycle decorations for his room and a few toys.

But his favorite thing was the card that Grandma Christiansen put on the gift she gave him. Just look at that excited face!

Kaden has been really into cars lately so I decided to make him a cake with cars on it. As you can see I made the cake look like a road and then added the cars. The only problem with that was that I took white frosting and added tons of black food coloring not knowing that it would turn people’s teeth black. I found out after I had already frosted everything that it is better to start with chocolate frosting and then add a little bit of black food coloring to make it black. I will know that for next time. Sorry everyone!

I set the cake down in front of Kaden and he was so excited! He absolutely LOVES food!

As we were singing he decided to start eating/playing with his cake.

Then he attacked it! He kept hitting the cake and it went EVERYWHERE! He had so much fun!

After a while of playing in the cake he decided to taste it.

Kaden had a blast with his cake. I had so much fun watching him and seeing how much he enjoyed it!

When he was all done Grandma Call gave him a bath in the sink. He was not too sure what to think about it, but it sure was cute.

Thanks everyone who came and shared in his fun day with us!
