The Call Family

This year my grandpa planted pumpkins in his garden and invited us to come pick some to carve. Avery was thrilled to see his pumpkin patch and choose her very own pumpkin!

While I was trying to get a good picture of my kiddos with their pumpkins they were too interested in what their cousins were doing. Oh well, it’s still cute!

Avery is on this kick that every time we try to get a good picture of her she has to pull a silly face. I like to capture these moments because it shows her personality. As you can see Kaden is just hanging out. He is always so content with whatever is going on.

We decided to carve our pumpkins for family night this last Monday. Here I am carving the lid on one of them.

Avery wanted to help.

Kaden loves to look at pumpkins! He had a blast looking at all of the pumpkins on the counter.

Every year it is Skyler’s job to carve the pumpkins and it is my job to pull all of the guck out and get the seeds.

Avery found some pumpkin faces on paper from a kit we bought last year. She decided that she wanted one of them on her pumpkin. She helped Daddy get it all pinned on so that they could begin carving.

Avery helped Dad carve some of the face on the pumpkin too. Skyler spent a ton of time carving the face to make it look perfect. They did such a good job together.

This is my favorite part of carving pumpkins each year. I absolutely love pumpkin seeds! Each year, while I was growing up, I cooked them with my mom and now it is a tradition in my own home. I LOVE IT!

Skyler took the previous picture and then made a “snoot” so that he could turn the lights off and point the flash directly at Avery and not at her pumpkin so you can both the glow of the pumpkin and her face lit up. I don’t understand all of the details. I just know that it turned out really neat.

We had tons of fun this year picking our pumpkins, carving them, and making pumpkin seeds!

On Labor Day we had family pictures with The Call Family. We went to a studio over in Orem and had them taken. The photographer didn’t take any pictures of the individual families and we deceded that we wanted some done so Skyler took some and adjusted all of the settings and Blaze took the ones of our family. I think they turned out really cute!

Avery has a cute picture frame in her room from Grandma Call that has been sitting empty waiting for a cute picture of her and grandma to go in it. Now we can’t decide which one we like best!

Over Labor Day weekend my parents took us all to the Hogle Zoo. It had been about a year since we have been so Avery was thrilled. You can just see the excitement in her eyes!

This was the first time that we put Kaden in the stroller sitting up without the car seat. He loved being able to sit and look around at everything.

Skyler used his really big lens to get some close up pictures of the giraffes. You can see his tongue going all the way around the pole, it was pretty neat.
