Avery’s 3rd Birthday

by on May.27, 2010

On May 13th Avery turned 3! We had a really fun day! It started with Skyler and I waking Avery up by singing “Happy Birthday”, she was very excited. She has been talking about her birthday for months now and has been so excited to be 3. We went downstairs and ate breakfast with Skyler and sent him off to work.

We then decorated the cake and cupcakes for Avery’s party that night. The theme of the party was “Under the Sea”, Avery enjoyed putting the Swedish Fish on the cupcakes.

As soon as we were done decorating Avery wanted to go to the Dinosaur Museum at Thanksgiving Point. We invited Grandma Christiansen, Aunt Nicole, and Aunt Lacey.

One of Avery’s favorite things to do was play in the sand and water area. She kept putting her hands in the sand and then shaking them off because she did not like having the sand all over her hands.

Avery has been to The Dinosaur Museum a couple of times before and both times that she went she was very afraid of the shark. Today she actually sat by it to let me take a picture. Aunt Nicole told her to act like she was scared. I think she did a pretty good job!

As usual, this is what Kaden did the whole time!

After the Dinosaur Museum I took Avery to Wendy’s for lunch and then we went home to have a nap before the party.

Finally it was time for the party. We had it at the Ivory Ridge Clubhouse.

The “Under the Sea/Mermaid” cake.

Avery received many fun gifts. Grandma and Grandpa Christiansen gave her a wagon, with seats for her and Kaden, Grandma Call gave her dance clothes and a summer of “Princess” dance lessons, Aunt Lacey and Uncle Jake gave her a swimming suit and a swimming noodle, her cousin Sadie gave her a shirt and some stickers, her friend Alli gave her a “My Little Pony”, Great Grandma and Grandpa Christiansen gave her a “Little People” playset, Skyler and I gave her some clothes, and Kaden gave her a Princess book.

Thank you everyone for the gifts and for coming to the party. Avery had a great time!

Happy Birthday Princess!

Discovery Gateway Children’s Museum

by on May.12, 2010

A couple of weeks ago Avery’s cousins invited us to go to Discovery Gateway with them. We had never been before and were so excited to go check it out! (Let me explain the hair. As you probably know, Avery does not have very much of her own hair yet and wants so badly for it to be long and beautiful like the princess she sees in the movies. She often puts a wash cloth on her head and pretends it is her hair. Grandma Christiansen found this wig at Sally Beauty Supply on clearance so she bought it. Avery loves it!)

The first area we played in had a bunch of balls and fun things ti do with the balls. Avery would grab a bucket and quickly fill it up with balls and run to the different areas and play with them. Her favorite part was the vacuum tube.

She would open it up and stick her ball in and it would suck it up and send it through tubes above your head. She loved watching to see where they would go!!

Avery’s cousin Sadie.

The next area we visited had a miniature house and grocery store. Avery and Sadie took little baskets and went shopping at the grocery store. It was really cute they had isles and checkout stands and pretend food. When they had gotten all of their groceries they put them in this car and we drove them to the house for them to put away in the fridge. The house had little cabinets and a table and couch, it was really cute! (I didn’t get a picture of it because my camera battery was dying.)

Avery’s cousin Jaden. (He is such a cutie!)

When we were done playing in that area we went upstairs and played in this helicopter they had outside. Avery and Sadie had a fun time playing in the helicopter and pretending to drive it.

There are so many fun things to do at Discovery Gateway, we didn’t have time to do everything. We hope to go back soon and play with all of the things that we didn’t get a chance to play with. Thank you Rebecca, Sadie, and Jaden for inviting us, we had a blast!
